Evangelism: Section 1, Chapter 4 Necessary Ingredients
of an Along with the Discipleship books are nine books on Apologetics listed and described below which the student is to give to people being witnessed to on the field when appropriate. Like the Discipleship books, these books cover apologetic material that the student himself will covered under the same Section titles in this Basic and the Advanced Textbooks on Evangelism. These books and their contents are the following: *What Is Truth? The contents of this book comes from Sections 1, 3 and 7 of this Textbook. Secular education teaches that Christianity is based on myth, not on verifiable facts of science, history or archaeology. This book first shows the significance of Jesus’ Physical Resurrection, how this gives absolute proof to what Jesus’ taught and what Moses taught about Creation and the Creation of man, man’s fall, etcetera. It next shows how the same methods we use to verify any historical fact are the same methods the Apostles used to verify the claims and facts of Christianity. Finally, it then explains what the Bible teaches about the Creation, constitution and fall of man and why God had to become a man in order to attain for man his full salvation and how to receive that salvation. *The Bible: God’s Word Absolutely. The contents of this book comes from Sections 1, 3 and 7 of Textbook. This book covers how we determine what is true and how the Bible has meant all this criteria. Second, it covers how we know that the manuscripts of the Bible we have today are reliable and gives both external and internal evidence of this reality. Third, it covers the historical and scientific reliability of the Bible through the discoveries of science and through the science of archaeology. Fourth, it covers fulfillment of Old testament prophecies and many prophecies that have been fulfilled in our day and the significance of this in how it confirms and verifies that the Bible is God’s Word and God’s Word alone. Fifth, it covers the evidence of Moses authorship of the Bible through historical and archaeological documents and discovers. Sixth, it covers Jesus’ claims that what Moses and the Old Testament teach is literal historical truth and His verification of this through His Physical Resurrection. Finally, it then explains what the Bible teaches about the creation, constitution and fall of man and why God had to become a man in order to attain for man his full salvation and how to receive that salvation. *The Literal Historical Reliability of Genesis. The contents of this book comes from Sections 1 and 10 of the Advanced Textbook of Evangelism. This book covers a lot of the same material the The Bible: God’s Word Absolutely covers, but with a primary focus on the book of Genesis. It covers how discoveries of science in our time confirm and verify the Bible’s claim of the six twenty-four days of not only Creation but in the exact order of that creation and why it could not have been otherwise. Second, it covers the scientific and archaeological evidence of a world wide Genesis Flood. Third, the literal historical evidence of the absolute truthfulness of every story in Genesis including the flood, Joseph in Egypt, Abraham, even evidence of Adam’s part in writing some of the information contained in the book of Genesis. Fourth, again the evidence for Moses’ authorship of the Torah. Fifth, why the teachings of Genesis and Evolution are absolutely incompatible and cannot be mixed. Finally, it then explains what the Bible teaches about the creation, constitution and fall of man and why God had to become a man in order to attain for man his full salvation and how to receive that salvation. *Spontaneous Generation of Life. The contents of this book come from Sections 1 and 10 of the Advanced Textbook of Evangelism. This book talks about DNA, RNA, Amino Acids, the basic building blocks of the cell and the workings of the Cell and how what we know about these workings confirm the book of Genesis. Second, it talks about how Miller’s Spark Chamber proved the impossibility of Spontaneous Generation of Life. Third, it goes into the issue of mutations and shows how while we have hundreds of examples of destructive mutations, we do not have one case example of a constructive mutation and how these truths confirm the book of Genesis. *The Bible: Absolutely Reliable Scientifcally. The Contents of the book are found in Section 7 and Chapter 5 of this Basic Textbook. It goes generally into every field of science and shows how the tangible measurable facts of science support Biblical Creation, not Evolution. *Heaven & Hell an Absolute Reality. The contents of this book comes from Sections 1, 3 and 8 of this Textbook. This book covers what the Bible teaches about Heaven and Hell and some stories of men and women’s experiences of Heaven and Hell that are very convincing. The book also contains a bibliography of sources I have collected over the years on the subject; How Jesus proved there is a Heaven and a Hell through His Physical Resurrection; finally, it then explains what the Bible teaches about the creation, constitution and fall of man and why God had to become a man in order to attain for man his full salvation and how to receive that salvation. *The book PRO-LIFE: Why We Are Involved talks about why Abortion is aborticide, the murdering of an innocent human being, and encourages the individual to consider other alternatives other than murdering an innocent child. *The book What The Bible Teaches About God, Man & the Universe is covered in Sections 1, and 3 of this Textbook and Section 10 of the Advanced Textbook. This book was written for the person who has no knowledge about what the Bible teaches about God, Man and the Universe. It explains the creation of the Universe according to Genesis, the creation and fall of Adam and Eve and God’s full plan of redemption for man through Jesus Christ. *The book What It Will Take To Bring America Back To God is covered in Section 9 of this Textbook. This book talks about the fact that there is no such thing as a safe and costless Christianity, that in order to win the lost for Christ there is always a cost involved. I share in this book what sharing the Gospel has cost me to stay faithful to it for thirty-two years. No one goes into war without getting bloodied. But it also talks about the fact that until we the Church are willing to get bloodied and lose this world, we will not bring America back to God. America will not turn back to Jesus until it sees that Christians really believe what they preach and that is that this earth is only temporary but that Heaven is forever; that Heaven is more desirable than anything this earth has to offer, so much so that we are willing to lose anything this earth has to offer to stay true to Jesus and to bring others to Him. "The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it." (Matt 13:45-46) "The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it." (Matt 13:45-46) Only when America sees that Christians so believe this that they are willing to give up their free time and resources to preach the Gospel to men, will America even consider giving any attention to the message we preach. It is the fact that Jesus gave His life for us on the cross that drew us to Him, not the messages that He preached. Until America sees that our bringing the Gospel to them is more important than our jobs, our Church buildings and land and all that this world has to offer, they won’t even consider the message of Jesus’ love and forgiveness or turn to Christ. The cross brought us to Jesus and only the crosses we are willing to bear will gain the ear of America to turn it back to Christ. There Is No Such Thing as a Safe & Costless Christianity. *The book Jesus’ Salvation Is Received Through Faith Alone is covered in Sections 1 and 3 of this Textbook. This book explains why we can only receive Jesus’ death and shed blood for our sins through faith, not by works. It also explains how to know a true believer from a false one. *The sample of the survey on this page titled Community Religious Survey was developed to aid you in doing door to door Evangelism. It is not just a survey for the sake of a survey. The first four questions are designed to find out the spiritual needs of people and why they may be negative to Christianity. This will help your Church understand what the spiritual needs of your local community are and how you can better serve the needs of your community and congregation spiritually. The rest of the questions are designed to find out what they believe about the Gospel and what is keeping them from receiving the Gospel. The value of the answer to these questions are that they will tell you how you need to personalize your presentation of the Gospel to them so they will believe and be saved. Believe me, I can tell you from personal experience that it works very well. The Section in this Basic Textbook titled: Testimonies of Evangelism On the Field give fifteen examples of how this survey helped in presenting the Gospel successfully under several different circumstances and arguments against the Gospel. I give their answers to the survey at the beginning of each of the Testimonies and then go on to share how I was able to use this information to successfully lead them to Christ. I strongly encourage you to use this survey in your door to door Evangelism outreach and in your college Evangelism outreach. Conclusion It is clear from the passages that we have studied in this book that Jesus wants you as a Layman to be involved in aggressive one on one Evangelism. In fact, one of the major keys to understanding and the interpretation of Scripture is the importance of spending time in our weeks in aggressive Evangelism. This is because the Bible was written by Evangelists and prophets who wrote what they wrote out of a motivation of Evangelism to bring men to repentance and back into right relationship with God through Jesus Christ. You will never understand the message of Scripture fully if You are not regularly involved in an aggressive program of Evangelism. Also if we are to win the lost and America for Christ, we must return to the example of the cross. How much was Jesus willing to sacrifice to bring us back to Himself and to salvation? He was willing to give and sacrifice all that He had: His very life on earth, and He did. We will not win the lost and America for Christ until America sees that we as the Church and as individual Christians so believe in the reality of heaven and its supreme value in comparison of what this life has to offer, that in order to convince them of that belief that we are willing to loose anything this life has to offer to bring them the message of Jesus’ love and forgiveness, even to the extent of our very lives. Until America sees that, America will not turn to Christ. The key to reaching the world for Jesus Christ does not lie in pulpit activity or in crusades; it lies primarily in the Laymen of the Church themselves reaching out aggressively one on one. Charles Goodell quoted Dean Hodges as giving the following information about the effectiveness of Laymen leadership throughout the history of the Church, "There have been three notable periods in the history of the extension of the Christian religion—the time of the martyrs, the time of the monks and the time of the Methodists. In each of these periods, religion spread phenomenally. The significance of each of these for our present purpose is that each of them was an era of Lay activity. The Christian Church was begun by Laymen; the apostles were all Laymen. It has ever since owed its best growth to the cooperation of Laymen. The monks were Lay orders. The Methodists won their great victories by Lay preaching. Not only that, but these Laymen in every one of these three periods did their work in spite of the clergy, discouraged by the clergy, detested by the clergy."36/72-73 The key to reaching our society and America with the Gospel is you! That is Why All Christians Need Training in Evangelism. What Do You Need to Do? Now that you have finished reading this chapter, you now need to pray and ask Jesus if it is His will that you go through this Evangelism Training Program. If you come to the conviction that Yes! He does, in order to succeed in seeing this training program through, you will need to pray the prayer of commitment at the end of this chapter. Why? If Jesus wants you to do this training program, Satan does not. Evangelism is bringing people into saving faith in Jesus and transferring them from Satan’s kingdom to Jesus’ Kingdom. Satan doesn’t take that lightly. Because he does not, he will fight you and will do all he can to distract and keep you from doing and successfully completing this training program (2 Tim 3:12). He will use your friends, boy friend or girl friend, well meaning Christians, your family, whatever he finds useful and cooperative. In light of this, how then does one overcome Satan’s attempted distractions and successfully complete this training program? By praying a prayer of commitment to complete the training program and fight off any attempted distractions of the enemy to do otherwise. Pray this way: Jesus, I believe you called me to do this training program. Therefore, by faith I commitment myself to go through this training program from start to finish and to exercise whatever discipline and self-control is necessary to see it through to completion. I also will to fight off anything, anyone and any attempts of Satan to cause me to do otherwise. Jesus, I acknowledge You in this commitment and also my total 100% need of your grace, strength and power to see this commitment through and ask for Your grace, strength and power and Holy Spirit power to see this Evangelism Training Program through to completion. By faith I believe you for the answer to these prayers, in your name Jesus, amen. If you just prayed this prayer of commitment, Jesus promises in His Word to help you see this commitment through. He says in Proverbs 3:6 "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." He also says in 2 Thessalonians 3:3 "But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one." Now you need to read Chapter 5 titled Time Management Through Relationship With Jesus which explains how to plan your time during the week so you can successfully complete this training program.
