Before Going On The Field

Page 1 , Back to page 1

PRAY AND ASK JESUS
TO PREPARE THE PERSON(S)
FOR THE MESSAGE OF HIS LOVE
AND FORGIVENESS THROUGH YOU

*Prayer:

Jesus, we pray for Your anointing, Your power and Your Holy Spirit upon the People that we are going to Witness to, that You would prepare them to receive the message of your love and forgiveness through us. We pray that they would experience the fruit of the Holy Spirit of Love, Joy and Peace and would sense that something good is going to happen to them today.

*Appropriate Scriptures:

Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace."

2 Corinthians 2:14-16 "But thanks be to God, who always leads us in His triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things?"

PRAY FOR PRIVACY
AND NO DISTRACTIONS

Jesus, we pray for Your anointing, power and Holy Spirit upon the people we are going to witness to, that you would draw these people to the field and that you would strategically locate them so that we have the maximum amount of the sense of privacy without distractions.

PRAY THAT THE PERSON EXPERIENCES
JESUS LOVE, JOY AND PEACE
AS YOU APPROACH THEM

*Prayer

Jesus, we pray that as we approach them that you would again allow them to experience the fruit of the Holy Spirit of Love, Joy and peace and that they would sense that we have something good to give to them, to not fear us or have any fear regarding us and our intentions.

*Appropriate Scriptures:

Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace."

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God has not give us a Spirit of fear, but of power and love and discipline."

PRAY FOR FAVOR OF THE LISTENER
AND THAT THEY WILL GIVE
A HEARTY "YES!"
TO THE GOSPEL

*Prayer:

Jesus, you said in your word, "The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord." We pray that whether they want to hear what we have to say or not, that You would give us their favor, that they will say with their mouths "Yes!" to the survey and "Yes!" to allowing us to share with them how to have eternal life and go to heaven.

*Appropriate Scripture:

Proverbs 16:1 "The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord."

PRAY FOR RESTRAINING GRACE

*Prayer:

Jesus, we then pray for Your restraining grace over the individual(s) to hear the complete presentation of the Gospel from beginning to end to the point of decision, to the point of commitment to discipleship and evangelism training and to becoming an active part of a fellowship of believers.

*Appropriate Scriptures:

Acts 9:1-6, 8-9, 17-18 "Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. And it came about that as he journeyed, he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him; and he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ And he said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting, but rise, and enter the city, and it shall be told you what you must do’. . . . And Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank. . . . And Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, ‘Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.’ And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he arose and was baptized."

Philippians 1:12-13 "Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else, and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear."

PRAY TO SPEAK ONLY
OUT OF JESUS' INITIATIVE

*Prayer:

Jesus, we pray for your anointing, power and Holy Spirit upon us. we pray that you would bind us and keep us from speaking one word that is not of you, that you would loose us to speak only that which is of You in a Spirit of love and Your presence.

CONCERNING WHAT IS TRULY
BLOCKING THEIR FAITH

*Prayer:

Jesus, we pray for your anointing, power and Holy Spirit upon the people we are going to witnessing too, that whatever is truly blocking them from releasing their faith that You would quicken it to their heart and mind. PRAY FOR DISCERNMENT AS TO HOW
TO RESPOND TO WHAT IS TRULY
BLOCKING THEIR FAITH

*Prayer:

Lord Jesus, We pray for Your anointing, power and Holy Spirit upon ourselves, that as the people we are witnessing too speak what is truly blocking their faith, that You would quicken to our hearts and our minds what to say and how to say it in response so that their faith is released to believe that You are the truth, the ONLY answer to their life and needs to receive You as Savior and Lord of their lives.

*Appropriate Scriptures:

1 Corinthians 14:24-25 "But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an ungifted man enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all; the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so he will fall on his face and worship God, declaring that God is certainly among you."

Luke 12:11-12 "And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not become anxious about how or what you should speak in your defense, or what you should say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say."

CONFIDENCE AND CONVICTION
IN PRESENTING THE GOSPEL

Ephesians 6:19-20 "And pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak."

PRAY FOR CONFIRMATION OF THE GOSPEL

*Prayer:

We pray also that You would confirm the Gospel through the fruit of the Holy Spirit of love, joy and peace; and through signs, wonders, miracles and healings, and through the distribution of the Holy Spirit according to Your will.

After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, God also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and through the distribution of the Holy Spirit according to His own will."

PRAY FOR POWER TO MOTIVATE
THE INDIVIDUAL IN LOVE
TO RESPOND TO THE GOSPEL

*Prayer:

Finally, Jesus, we pray for your anointing, power and Holy Spirit to motivate in love where appropriate the individual to accept you as Savior and Lord, to a commitment of discipleship or Evangelism training and to become an active part of a fellowship of believers.

*Appropriate Scriptures:

Matthew 2:18-20 "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Ephesians 4:11-12 "And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as Evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ."

Hebrews 10:24-25 "and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more, as you see the day drawing near."

After thirty years of ongoing weekly Evangelism, I have found these seventeen elements essential in prayer for greatest success and fruitfulness in Evangelism on the field.
