Evangelism: Section 6, Chapter 19 "Let Us
Not Loose
Heart By Nenita L. Kruse Galatians 6:9 "And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary." 1 Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my beloved brethren be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord." During my March 2006 one week vacation, I went out every day and share the Gospel using What Is Eternal Life? The first day I went out I did not find anyone to talk to. Some people were even rude and waved me away. However, I did find many people who were at least willing to take a Salvation Tract and read it on their own. The second day I started out only able to pass out tracts until I came to an Indian lady by the name of Ruth (real person, name changed). She was on her lunch break and agreed to allow me to share the Salvation Tract with her. I got up to page 11, which talks about the difference between a person without Jesus and a person with Jesus in their heart, when she ran out of time and had to go back to work. However I was able to leave a copy of the Salvation Tract for her to study on her own. The third day I went out to do Evangelism, I found no one to talk to but passed out a lot of tracts. The fourth day I went out I walked up to a woman named Nancy and I asked her if I could share What Is Eternal Life? with her and she responded happily and said yes. I went completely through the salvation tract with her and when I challenged her to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord, she prayed the salvation prayer on page 12 and received Jesus into her heart as Savior and Lord. I finished going through the rest of the tract with her and then gave her the discipleship book titled Jesus Is The Answer To Your Needs to get her established in her walk with Jesus. On the fifth day I went out I did not find anyone to talk to, but I was able to give a tract to one person. Then I met a Pastor who was also out sharing the word of God and we encouraged one another in the Lord. (Heb 10:24-25). The next Saturday I was out sharing the Gospel when I approached a woman who was on holiday from Saudia Arabia. I got all the way through the tract and when I challenged her to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord, she prayed the prayer on page 12 and gave her heart to Jesus as Savior and Lord. What I learned during my week of vacation in sharing the Gospel, and the days that followed, is that if you do not give up, Jesus will allow you to take part in the harvest. When that first person received Jesus as Savior and Lord, it made all the previous turn aways worth enduring. There is no greater joy than to see a person’s face light up when they come to know Jesus and know that they are saved and going to heaven. Brothers and Sister I encourage you to not give up in using your free time to share the Gospel with men. If you obey Jesus and weekly go out and share the Gospel with men, you will in due season see men and women come to saving faith in Jesus Christ just as I do. Praise the Lord! God bless you more.
