Right now the nations are gathering against Israel in the middle east and in
the United nations. The Arabs (who are actually Israel’s cousins through
Abraham's son Ishmael) are bent on pushing Israel into the sea. What does the Bible say will
bring about Jesus’ second coming, His return to earth? This is it, His people
Israel and Zechariah tells us that it will be the nations of the world trying to
destroy Israel and it will happen as a result of their battling over the city of
Jerusalem. That has been the issue of the past year, Jerusalem, and is right now
at this writing (November, 2000). Their leadership has declared that Jerusalem
will be the capital of Palestine. All the other surrounding Arab nations have
made their declaration in agreement. Jesus is coming soon, very soon. Jesus said
in Luke 21:28 "But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and
lift up your head, because your redemption is drawing near."
The above passage in Zechariah states that Jesus will land on the mount of
Olives. Jesus when He ascended to heaven did so from on top of the Mountain of
Olives. Note what the angels told Jesus’ disciples after He ascended to heaven
in the New Testament:
"And after he had said these things, He was lifted up while they were
looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing
intently into the sky while He was departing, behold, two men in white clothing
stood beside them; and they also said, 'Men of Galilee, why do you stand
looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven,
will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.'"
(Acts 1:9-11)
The Prophet Malachi writes about this day:
"‘And Yehovah, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and
the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,’
says Yehovah-of-hosts. ‘But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can
stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’
soap.’" (Malachi 3:1-2)
There are many sober passages which talk about the Lord’s return and what
will take place just before His return and after. See the following passages:
Genesis 12:3
Isaiah 60:12, 14
Zechariah 12:9, 14:12
Genesis 13:15, 17:8
Isaiah 60:21-22
Jeremiah 7:7
Ezekiel 38-39
Zechariah 12-14
The fulfillment of Prophecies in the Bible is God’s proof to us of who He
is, of who the one and only true God is, of who His true messengers are and what
is truly His Word. Note what God says through Moses is the test of a true
prophet of Him:
"But the prophet who shall speak a word presumptuously in My name which
I have not commanded him to speak, or which he shall speak in the name of other
gods, that prophet shall die. And you may say in your heart, ‘How shall we
know the word which Yehovah has not spoken?’ When a prophet speaks in the name
of Yehovah, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing
which Yehovah has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you
shall not be afraid of him." (Deut 18:20-22)
Jesus said in John 13:19 "From now on I am telling you before
it comes to pass, so that when it does occur, you may believe that I AM." Jesus
gave prophecies of His coming death, crucifixion and resurrection so they would
believe that He is Yehovah God in the flesh. John the Apostle wrote in John 2:22
after Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection: "When therefore He was raised from
the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this; and they believed the
Scripture, and the word which Jesus had spoken." This is how we know that the
Bible is God’s Holy word and God’s Holy word alone and that Jesus Christ is the
one and only true God and the only way to God who in time became man to save us
from our sins. And in light of the fulfillment of
Bible prophecies in our day concerning modern Israel, know that Jesus’ second
coming is very soon, sooner than any of us realize.
There are hundreds of other prophecies in the Bible. I sight many of these in
Chapter 6 of this Section
titled Absolutely Reliable Prophetically.
No other religious books of any other faith have prophecies about the future.
Only the Bible does and God says He tells us what is to come so we will know
-
Who the one and only true God is: Yehovah Elohim, Jesus Christ of Nazareth
-
Who His true prophets are
-
And what is truly His Word: The Judeo-Christian Bible.
Again asking the question "How do we know that what the Bible teaches
about creation, the creation of man, man’s fall, the flood, what Jesus claimed
about Himself and all other recorded events in the Bible are true and that the
Bible and the Bible ALONE is the ONLY written Word
of God to man?" We know it is true because Jesus is true, and we know Jesus
is true because He came back from the dead Physically alive to prove to
us that it is true and because of all the fulfilled prophecies in the Bible
which is God’s signature to the Judeo-Christian Bible being His Word and His
Word alone. No other religious founder or scientist of history can make these
claims. Their founders died and were buried. There are no prophecies in their
books that have been fulfilled confirming God had anything to do with them. God
says in His word in Isaiah 8:19-20,
"And when they say to you, ‘Consult the mediums and the spiritists who
whisper and mutter,’ should not a people consult their God? Should they
consult the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If
they do not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn."
(Isaiah 8:19-20)
The Law and the testimony is referring to the Bible. Jesus said in John 8:47
"He who is of God hears the words of God." Jesus said if you want to
be of the One and ONLY true God, then read His word: The Judeo-Christian
Bible; because these are His words, His words alone. Jesus said in Matthew 24:35
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away."
Jesus Christ of Nazareth is Yehovah, Elohim, El-Shaddai, our God, Creator, and
Savior in the flesh.
