God Has no Son
Surah 9:91
"No son did Allah beget, nor is there any god along with Him: (if there
were many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had
created, and some would have lorded it over others! Glory to Allah. (He is
free) from the (sort of) things they attribute to Him!" |
Bible's
Meaning of Title "Son of God"
The Bible Never teaches God had a son,
like a baby God. The Bible teaches there is only one God of one
essence manifested in three Persons: The Father and the Son and the
Holy Spirit, and thus the title "Trinity". Concerning God's title
"Son of God" Luke wrote the following:
Luke 1:31, 34-35
"‘And behold, you [Mary] will conceive in
your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.’ . . . And Mary
said to the angel, ‘How can this be, since I have not known a man?’ And
the angel answered and said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason
the holy offspring shall be called the Son-of-God.’"
Jesus is called the "Son of God" because
in His humanity He was conceived of by the Holy Spirit, not by man's seed.
Jesus however in His Divinity had no beginning. He is the only true
God from eternity past who in time took on a full human nature as well to
save us from our sins. Note the following passages which bring this
out clearly:
Isaiah 9:6 "For a
child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government
will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty-El,
Father-of-Eternity,
Prince-of-Peace."
Micah 5:2 "But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too
little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me
to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the
days of
eternity."
Isaiah 9:6 states that Jesus is the
Father of Eternity meaning there was no one before Him, that He and He
alone is from all eternity. Jesus is the only true God from eternity
past who in time took on a full human nature as well, so that today and
forever He is fully God and fully Man, but one person. The Bible
teaches:
Colossians 2:9 "For
in Him all the fulness of Deity dwells in bodily form."
[not "In a body" but "in bodily form" meaning not
possessing someone but God in bodily form, in his own human body]
Thus why the Father, God, declares of
the Man Jesus in
Hebrews 1:8 "But of
the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the
righteous scepter is the scepter of Your kingdom." [Jesus
Is God]
