Topical Scriptures __________ Exodus 29:21 “Then you shall take some of the blood that is on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and on his garments, and on his sons and on his sons’ garments with him; so he and his garments shall be consecrated, as well as his sons and his sons’ garments with him.” (Exodus 29:21) Exodus 30:22-30 Moreover, Yehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
30:23 Take also for yourself the finest of spices: of flowing myrrh five
hundred shekels, and of fragrant cinnamon half as much, two hundred and fifty,

James 5:14-15. 2/14, 26/CD, 28/CD, 31/CD, 37/CD. crivw, future ivsw , 1 aorist e[cri'sa while ajleivfw to anoint, 218, is a general term used for an anointing of any kind, whether of physical refreshment after washing, crivw to anoint is more limited in its use and confined to sacred and symbolical anointings such as Christ as the Anointed of God. 1) to anoint meaning to consecrate and empower as Jesus was at His baptism in the Holy Spirit to fulfill His Messianic office; Luke 4:18, Acts 10:3. 2) to anoint Christians with the Holy Spirit to empower and fulfill a given calling, 2 Cor 1:21; see also Hebrews 10:37. 3) in the LXX crivw is used frequently of kings, 1 Sam. 10:1, and priests, Ex. 28:41, and prophets, 1 Kings 19:16. In the New Testament 1) olive oil is used in lamps as a symbol of the Holy Sirit: Matt 25:3, 4, 8; 2) as oinment for healing in Luke 10:34; 3) for anointing at feasts in Luke 7:46; 4) for festive occasions like in anointing a king in Heb 1:9; 5) used in anointing the sick for prayer for healing in Mark 6:13 & James 5:14.
