*The Nature of Demons

1. Demons are the spiritual agents involved in all idolatry. They are associated with idols which induces idolatry and along with it worship and sacrifices: 1 Cor 10:20-21, Rev 9:20, Deut 32:17, Isa 13:21, 34:14, 65:3, 11.

2. Demons twist and pervert the word of God among men and do all they can to seduce believers, 1 Tim. 4:1.

3. Demons deceive men to believe that by summoning them they can have them bring up and talk to the dead which are only familiar spirits imitating dead people supposedly summoned, Lev. 20:6, 27. Scripture emphatically forbids this practice: Lev. 19:31, Deut. 18:11, Isa. 8:19.

4. Demons tremble before God, James 2:19; they recognized Christ as Lord and as their future Judge, Matt. 8:29; Luke 4:41. Jesus cast them out of men in many occasions, Matt 8:28-32. through Jesus’ name His disciples also cast out demons on many occasions, Matt. 17:20.

 5.      King Ahab of Israel was judicially given up by God to succumb to a "lying spirit" of false prophecy (1 Kings 22:22-23).

 6.      Ancient Egypt was under the influence of a "perverse spirit, " or, in the Hebrew, a "spirit of perversities" (Isa. 19:14).

 7.      God says "the spirit of harlotry" caused His people Israel to err (Hosea 4:12; 5:4).

 8.      God promises to cleanse the Land of "the unclean spirit" (Zech. 13:2).

 9.      In the New Testament, the Messiah encountered several demons and "unclean spirits" during the course of His ministry (for example, see Matthew 12:2232; Mark 1:21-28).

Then it goes, and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation.”

*Prayer & Fasting Required to Cast Demons Out

How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.’ And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured at once. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, ‘Why could we not cast it out?’ And He said to them, ‘Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible to you. But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.’"

And he asked his father, ‘How long has this been happening to him?’ And he said, ‘From childhood.’ And it has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!’. . . . And when Jesus saw that a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, ‘You deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again’. . . . And when He had come into the house, His disciples began questioning Him privately, ‘Why could we not cast it out?’ And he said to them, ‘This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer.’"
