*Kings

Deuteronomy 17:14-20, (note verse 17 about wives)

Deut 17:14 When you enter the land which Yehovah your Elohim gives you, and you possess it and live in it, and you say, ‘I will set a king over me like all the nations who are around me,’

Deut 17:15 you shall surely set a king over you whom Yehovah your Elohim chooses, one from among your countrymen you shall set as king over yourselves; you may not put a foreigner over yourselves who is not your countryman.

Deut 17:16 Moreover, he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor shall he cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, since Yehovah has said to you, ‘You shall never again return that way.’

Deut 17:17 Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly increase silver and gold for himself.

Deut 17:18 Now it shall come about when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself a copy of this law on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests.

Deut 17:19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear Yehovah his Elohim, by carefully observing all the words of this law and these statutes,

Deut 17:20 that his heart may not be lifted up above his countrymen and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, to the right or the left; in order that he and his sons may continue long in his kingdom in the midst of Israel.

1 Samuel 8

Prov 20:28 “Loyalty and truth preserve the king, and he upholds his throne by righteousness.”

Prov 25:2 It is the glory of Elohim to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.

Prov 25:3 “As the heavens for height and the earth for depth, so the heart of kings is unsearchable.”

Prov 25:4 “Take away the dross from the silver, and there comes out a vessel for the smith;”

Prov 25:5 “Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne will be established in righteousness.”

Prov 25:6 “Do not claim honor in the presence of the king, and do not stand in the place of great men;”

Prov 25:7 “For it is better that it be said to you, ‘Come up here,’ than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, whom your eyes have seen.”

Prov 29:4 “The king gives stability to the land by justice, but a man who takes bribes overthrows it.”

Prov 29:14 “If a king judges the poor with truth, His throne will be established forever.”

Prov 31:1-9 “The words of King Lemuel, the oracle which his mother taught him. What, O my son? And what, O son of my womb? And what, O son of my vows? Do not give your strength to women, or your ways to that which destroys kings. It is not for kings, O Lempel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to desire strong drink, Lest they drink and forget what is decreed, and pervert the rights of all the afflicted. Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to him whose life is bitter. Let him drink and forget his poverty, and remember his trouble no more. Open your mouth for the dumb, for the rights of all the unfortunate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and defend the rights of the afflicted and needy.”

Hebrews 7:1-3 For this Melchizedek, King-of-Salem, Priest of the Most-High-God, who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth part of all the spoils, was first of all, by the translation of his name, King-of-Righteousness, and then also King-of-Salem, which is King-of-Peace. Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son-of-God, he abides a priest perpetually.”

Matthew 27:11 “Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor questioned Him, saying, ‘Are You the King of the Jews?’ And Jesus said to him, ‘It is as you say.’”

Matthew 27:37 “And they put up above His head the charge against Him which read, ‘This is Jesus the King of the Jews.’”

Mark 15:2 “And Pilate questioned Him, ‘Are You the King of the Jews?’ And answering He said to him, ‘It is as you say.’”

John 18:37 Pilate therefore said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
