Man-Woman
Relationship

CREATION OF WOMAN

Genesis 1:26-27 "And Elohim said ‘Let-us-make man in our-image, according-to-our-likeness, and to-rule over-the fish of-the sea and over-the flying-creatures in-the heavens and over-the beast and over all the earth and over every moving-thing that moves upon the earth. And Elohim created man in His-image, in-the image of Elohim He-created him; male and female He-created them.’"

Genesis 2:21-23 “And Yehovah-Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept. And He took one of his-ribs and closed up the flesh underneath. And Yehovah-Elohim constructed the rib which He had taken from Adam into a woman, and brought her in to Adam. And Adam said, ‘This now at last is bone from my-bones, and flesh from my flesh! For this shall be called woman,’ because this has been taken out of man.”

Genesis 5:2 "He created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them Man In-the-day when they were created."

While a man's and a woman's role in marriage differ according to the Bible, yet these passages in Genesis make it clear that women are not inferior to men, but they are equal as human beings and as created in God's image.  Thus Peter instructed Husbands:

1 Peter 3:7 You "husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered."

THE WOMAN'S
ROLE IN MARRIAGE

Genesis 3:16 “Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”

Ephesians 5:22-24 “Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as in the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives are to be to their husbands in everything.

Ephesians 5:33 “Let the wife see to it that she respect her husband.”

Colossians 3:18 “Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

1 Peter 2:21-23 “For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously.”

1 Peter 3:1-3 “In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. And let not your adornment be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.”

THE HUSBAND'S
ROLE IN MARRIAGE

Ephesians 5:25-31 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her; that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she should be holy and blameless. So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, because we are members of His flesh. For this cause a man shall leave His father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh.”

Ephesians 5:33 “Nevertheless let each individual among you also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see to it that she respect her husband.”

Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be embittered against them.

1 Peter 3:7 “You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.”

Jesus loved the Church by giving His life for the Church. Also Jesus said in Matthew 20:27-28,

“And whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son-of-Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

Therefore the Husband is called to serve his family, not make his family members his personal property to serve him. Jesus loved us by giving His life for us and today He serves us by helping us to reach our full potential in Him, His will and plan for our lives. In the same way the husband is to provide for His family and and serve them by helping them to fulfill Jesus’ will in their lives individually. Being the head of the home means to manage the home and lead it spiritually. Leading the home spiritually means to encourage each member to seek Jesus’ will for them individually and then do what he can to help them fulfill Jesus’ will for them.

WE ARE TO SUBMIT
TO ONE ANOTHER

Ephesians 5:21 “And be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.”

SEX LIFE

1 Corinthians 7:2-5 “But because of fornications, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again lest Satan tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

DIVORCE

Matthew 19:9 "Whoever divorces his wife, except for fornication, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

AN EXCELLENT WIFE

Proverbs 31:10-31

HUSBAND & WIFE AFTER DEATH

Matthew 22:23-32 "On that day some Sadducees (who say there is no resurrection) came to Him and questioned Him, saying, ‘Teacher, Moses said, "If a man dies, having no children, his brother as next of kin shall Marry his wife, and raise up an offspring to his brother." Now there were seven brothers with us; and the first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother; so also the second, and the third, down to the seventh. And last of all, the woman died. In the resurrection therefore whose wife of the seven shall she be? For they all had her.’ But Jesus answered and said to them, ‘You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures, or the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in Heaven. But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying, "I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob"? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.’"

Mark 12:26-27
Luke 20:27-38
__________

1 Corinthians 14:34-38 “Let the women keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but let them subject themselves, just as the Law also says. And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church. Was it from you that the word of God first went forth? Or has it come to you only? If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment. But if anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.”

1 Timothy 2:8-15 “Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension. Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments; but rather by means of good works, as befits women making a claim to godliness. Let a woman quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression, But women shall be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.”

Ephesians 5:21-33 “And be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as in the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives are to be to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her; that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she should be holy and blameless. So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, because we are members of His flesh. For this cause a man shall leave His father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each individual among you also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see to it that she respect her husband.”

Colossians 3:18-19 “Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be embittered against them.”

1 Timothy 2:8-15 "Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression, But women shall be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint."

1 Timothy 2:11-12 "Let a woman quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.  But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet."

Titus 2:3-5  "Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be dishonored."
