1 Chronicles 29:29 “Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are written in the chronicles of Samuel the seer [ha,ro], in the chronicles of Nathan the prophet [aybin:], and in the chronicles of Gad the seer [hz<jo].” hz<jo chosei meaning seer, prophet; Noun, 2374. aybin: naviah meaning Prophet; Noun, 5030. ha,ro roeh meaning seer, prophet; vision Noun, 7203 profhvth", Prophet, Noun, 4396 Prophet: those called of God in the Old and New Testament to foretell the future; write the scriptures: 2 Peter 1:20-21 “But know this first of all, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s-own authority-to-loose to-cause-to-come-into-existence, for no prophecy was-ever brought-forth by the will of man, but being-brought-forth by the Holy Spirit, men of God spoke.” And who call men to repentance, righteousness and back into right relationship with God. Those in the Old Testament were men like Elijah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Isaiah, Jeremiah; in the New Testament John the Baptist, Jesus, Agabus, Ana and the Apostle John, and really any of the Apostles because they told the future and wrote the Scriptures and called men to repentance, righteousnes and back into right relationship with God. In the New Testament and today Prophets are also called to equip God's saints for the work of ministry; Ephesians 4:11-12 “And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:11-12) They are called to bring men to repentance, righteousness and back into right relationship with God; they also continue to fortell future events, but never in contradiction to what is already written. Todays Prophets no longer write any Scripture because the Bible is complete. A true prophet never speaks or teaches contrary to the Bible: Isaiah 8:19-20 “And when they say to you, ‘Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,’ should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.” John 8:47 “He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.” Revelation 22:18-19 “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.” __________ A true prophet’s message, if truly of God, will draw men to Jesus, not to himself Revelation 19:10 “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Acknowledges That Jesus Is Yehovah God A true Prophet of Yehovah will always acknowledge that Jesus is Yehovah God of the Old Testament in the flesh, that Jesus is fully God and fully man, the only true Savior of our sins: John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” [qeo;" h\\n oJ lovgo", no article “a” or “the” in front of the word “God”, qeo;"] John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” 1 John 4:1-3 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.” Teaches Us That Jesus Is Our Only Means of Salvation He also teaches that Jesus is our only means of Salvation, not any works of ours, but only through His death and shed blood on the cross. His message will always draw men to this Jesus, no one else: Isaiah 43:10-11 “‘You are My witnesses,’ declares Yehovah, ‘And My servant whom I have chosen, in order that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no El formed, and there will be none after Me. I, even I, am Yehovah; and there is no Savior besides Me.’” Matthew 1:21-23 “‘And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.’ Now all this took place that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”’” John 3:17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him.” Luke 9:56 “For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.” Galatians 2:16 “Nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified.” 1 Peter 1:18-19 “Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.” (1 Peter 1:18-19) John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I-AM (ejgwv eijmi) the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” John 10:1, 9 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber.... Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.... If anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” 1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.” What He Prophecies Will Come True 100% If the person is truly a prophet of God, what they prophecy will come true 100% without error; if it does not come true, they are not of God: Deuteronomy 18:20-22 “But the prophet who shall speak a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he shall speak in the name of other els, that prophet shall die. And you may say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which Yehovah has not spoken?’ When a prophet speaks in the name of Yehovah, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which Yehovah has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.” hz<jo chosei meaning seer, prophet; Noun, 2374 2 Samuel 24:11 “When David arose in the morning, the word of Yehovah came to the prophet Gad, David's seer.” 2 Kings 17:13 “Yet Yehovah warned Israel and Judah, through all His prophets and every seer, saying, ‘Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments, My statutes according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you through My servants the prophets.’” 2 Chronicles 35:15 “The singers, the sons of Asaph, were also at their stations according to the command of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer.” aybin: naviah meaning Prophet; Noun, 5030. Genesis 20:7 “Now therefore, restore the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.” [God speaking about Abraham] Numbers 11:29 “But Moses said to him, ‘Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all Yehovah’s people were prophets, that Yehovah would put His Spirit upon them!’” Deuteronomy 18:15 “Yehovah your Elohim will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him.” [A prophecy concerning Jesus Christ, Acts 3:22-23, 7:36-37] ha,ro roeh meaning seer, prophet; vision Noun, 7203 1 Samuel 9:9 “Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of Elohim, he used to say, ‘Come, and let us go to the seer’; for he who is called a prophet now was formerly called a seer.” 1 Samuel 9:18-19 “Then Saul approached Samuel in the gate, and said, ‘Please tell me where the seer’s house is.’ And Samuel answered Saul and said, “I am the seer. Go up before me to the high place, for you shall eat with me today; and in the morning I will let you go, and will tell you all that is on your mind.” profhvth" Prophet, Noun, 4396 Matthew 1:21-23 “‘And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.’ Now all this took place that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”’” (Isaiah 7:14) Matthew 2:5-6 And they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it has been written by the prophet, ‘And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the leaders of Judah; for out of you shall come forth a Ruler, who will shepherd My people Israel.’” (Micah 5:2, Shepherd Gen 49:24) Mark 6:4 “And Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his home town and among his own relatives and in his own household.’” *Will Not Be Honored Among Relatives Mark 6:4 “And Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his home town and among his own relatives and in his own household.’” Jeremiah 7:25 “Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent you all My servants the prophets, daily rising early and sending them.” *Jesus Said Prophets Are Only Until John the Baptist Matthew 11:13 “For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John.” (Matthew 11:13) Luke 16:16 “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since then the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it. *Now God Only Speaks to Us Through Jesus Hebrews 1:1-3 “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the ages. And He is the reflected-brightness of His glory and the exact-image of His essence, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” *God’s Warning About His Prophets Psalm 105:15 “Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.” Matthew 10:41 “He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.” *Jesus Is the Last Prophet & Revelation of God to Man Mark 12:6 “He had one more to send, a beloved son; he sent him last of all to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ Hebrews 1:1-3 “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the ages. And He is the reflected-brightness of His glory and the exact-image of His essence, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” (Hebrews 1:1-3) *How We Know Who God’s True Prophets Are Deuteronomy 18:20-22 “But the prophet who shall speak a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he shall speak in the name of other elohims, that prophet shall die. And you may say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which Yehovah has not spoken?’ When a prophet speaks in the name of Yehovah, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which Yehovah has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.” Amos 3:7 “For Adonai Yehovah will do nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” Isaiah 46:9-10 “For I am El, and there is no other Elohim, there is no one like Me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, ‘My purpose will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure’.” *The Church Is Built upon the Apostles and Prophets __________ *Built Upon the Apostles & Prophets Ephesians 2:20 “Having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone.” Matthew 10:2-4 “Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax-gatherer; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed Him.” (Matthew 10:2-4, Mark 3:16-19, Luke 6:13-16) *When Judas Iscariot died, God chose and replaced him with Paul 1 Corinthians 15:8-9 “And last of all, as it were to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. For I am the least of the apostles, who am not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.” Acts 1:21-22 “It is therefore necessary that of the men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us——beginning with the baptism of John, until the day that He was taken up from us——one of these should become a witness with us of His resurrection.” The Bible makes plain there were only twelve apostles and that there will be no others. Revelation 21:14 bears this out when talking about the foundation of the new Jerusalem in heaven: Revelation 21:14 “And the wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” *Jesus Is the Chief Corner Stone The church is built upon the prophets, the Old Testament, the 12 apostles, the New Testament; and upon Jesus the foundation and Corner Stone. 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 “According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building upon it. But let each man be careful how he builds upon it. For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” Acts 4:11 “He is the stone which was rejected by you [Jewish leadership], the builders, but which became the very corner stone.” 1 Peter 2:6 “For this is contained in Scripture: ‘‘Behold I lay in Zion a choice Stone, a precious corner stone, and he who believes in Him shall not be disappointed.’’” The Apostles according to the Bible were people who walked with Jesus and witnessed his resurrection and ascension. After Jesus ascended, there could be no new apostles except Paul whom Jesus replaced Judas Iscariot with. Paul had been also a witnesses of the death burial and later Jesus’’ physical resurrection. Jesus made plain that prophets, in the sense of new revelation of Him, ended with John, that God’’s final revelation of God to man is Jesus (Heb 1:1-3). The Apostles witnessed and wrote about what they learned from Jesus. There are no new Old Testament type prophets, no new Apostles. God’’s Word the Bible is complete and Jesus warned in the final book of Revelation that if anyone added or took away from the Bible as it stands, that he or she will not receive eternal life or enter heaven: Revelation 22:18-19 “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.” There are no new Old Testament type prophets or apostles or new revelation of God to man. There are prophets today that God speaks through to each generation, but they are not writing new Scripture or giving us any new revelation about who God is. Whatever we teach today about who God is or about Jesus comes from God's Word: the Judeo-Christian Bible. hz<jo seer, prophet; league, agreement, 2372.
