*Yehovah Commanded it

Exodus 20:9-11 “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a seventh of Yehovah-your-Elohim, in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days Yehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore Yehovah blessed the seventh day and made it holy.”

Exodus 34:21 “You shall work six days, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during plowing time and harvest you shall rest.”

Exodus 35:1-3 Then Moses assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and said to them, These are the things that Yehovah has commanded you to do. For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day, a sabbath of complete rest to Yehovah; whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. You shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the sabbath day.

Isaiah 58:13-14 “If because of the sabbath, you turn your foot from doing your own pleasure on My holy day, and call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of Yehovah honorable, and shall honor it, desisting from your own ways, from seeking your own pleasure, and speaking your own word, Then you will take delight in Yehovah, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of Yehovah has spoken.”

Ezekiel 20:16 “They even profaned My Sabbaths, for their heart continually went after their idols.”

Mark 2:27-28 “And He was saying to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. The Sabbath came into being for the sake of man, not man for the sake of the Sabbath. Consequently, the Son-of-Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.’”

*We are to Honor God On The Sabbath

Exodus 20:9-11 “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a seventh of Yehovah your-Eloah; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days Yehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore Yehovah blessed the seventh day and made it holy.”

Psalm 147:11 “Yehovah favors those who fear Him, those who wait for His lovingkindness.”

Jeremiah 17:19-27

Ezekiel 20:15-16 “And also I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands, because they rejected My ordinances, and as for My statutes, they did not walk in them; they even profaned My sabbaths, for their-heart continually went after their idols.”

*To Not Honor the Sabbath Is to Commit Idolatry

Ezekiel 20:16 “They even profaned My Sabbaths, for their heart continually went after their idols.”

*The Sabbath Made For Man

Mark 2:27-28 “And He was saying to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. The Sabbath came into being for the sake of man, not man for the sake of the Sabbath. Consequently, the Son-of-Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.’”

*Okay to Do Good on the Sabbath

Mark 3:1-5 “And He entered again into a synagogue; and a man was there with a withered hand. And they were watching Him to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, in order that they might accuse Him. And He said to the man with the withered hand, ‘Rise and come forward!’ And He said to them, ‘Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save a life or to kill?’ But they kept silent. And after looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, ‘Stretch out your hand.’ And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.”
